Congressman-Elect Heck's Election Night Statement

Heck for Nevada issued the following statement upon the announcement of Republican candidate, Dr. Joe Heck's victory over the Democrat incumbent, Dina Titus. Dr. Heck, sealed the election with a 48 - 47 win margin. Joe Heck is a physician, a small business owner, and a Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves. Dr. Heck is joined in success tonight by his wife, Lisa, his daughters Chelsea and Monica, and his son, Joey.

"This is the end of a long journey, but ultimately the truth prevailed. I would like to thank my family for their selfless sacrifice, endless endurance and unending loyalty. I would also like to thank the constituents of Nevada's 3rd Congressional District for their patience during this long and grueling election cycle, and express my humble gratitude for their faith in me and willingness to give us the opportunity to represent the in Congress. Today, Dr. Joe Heck issued the following statement with the release of the sobering announcement that Las Vegas has hit 15 percent unemployment. This figure sends shockwaves throughout our community verifying that 145,400 of our friends, family members and neighbors are unemployed in southern Nevada. The statewide figure remained a stubborn 14.4 percent with cities across the state showing an increase in numbers.

“This figure is an emotional and frustrating reminder that Dina Titus forgot us. When Congresswoman Titus went to Washington in January of 2009, statewide unemployment was 9.6 percent. Throughout her tenure, she has maintained that it is her job to create jobs but, by her own standards, Congresswoman Titus is a failure. These numbers serve as verification of this unfortunate fact,” said Dr. Joe Heck. “Congresswoman Titus placed Pelosi’s priorities of Obamacare and the job-killing Cap and Trade bill over the need for private sector job creation in southern Nevada. Unemployment at 15 percent has long been the anticipated bottom as Washington has failed to pass any real pro-small business legislation. Titus's Friends Resort To Lies - Again

"This misleading ad is touting Congresswoman's Titus's vote for Cap and Trade which is a light switch tax on every home in southern Nevada. This is a prime example of Dina Titus's say and do anything strategy to get re-elected.  Congresswoman Titus and her pals have lied about Dr. Heck this entire election, and this ad continues their dishonest campaign strategy. When she was in the State Senate, Titus argued that Nevada was not ready for Cap and Trade, yet while serving in Congress she changed her tune in order to please Nancy Pelosi. On top of raising taxes on households and businesses across Nevada, Cap and Trade will literally kill thousands of jobs in southern Nevada as a result of its stringent regulations.
