Congressman-elect Heck Elected To Influential House Steering Committee
Washington, DC – Today, Congressman-elect Joe Heck of Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District was elected to the influential House Republican Steering Committee as a freshman class representative. The House Republican Steering Committee is in charge of selecting full committee and subcommittee chairmen as well as committee membership for the 112th Congress.
“It is an honor and privilege to be entrusted by my peers to serve on the House Republican Steering Committee,” said Congressman-elect Heck. “In assuming this role, southern Nevadans will have a voice in deciding committee leadership positions which will shape the direction of our new Republican majority. I look forward to working with Speaker-elect Boehner and the rest of the Steering Committee in setting the course to end wasteful spending, empowering our small businesses to create jobs and getting Nevadans back to work,” continued Heck.
The Republican House Steering Committee is comprised of party leaders, selected committee leaders, class leaders, and regional representatives. The Steering Committee nominates standing committee chairs which are then ratified by the full Republican Conference.
