Fact Check: Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee attack ad “Fix It.”

“This is the same old tired partisan playbook Harry Reid and the Democrats always use because they don’t have any solutions to the problems facing Nevadans,” said Heck spokesperson Brian Baluta. “And it’s even getting old and tired for this campaign because the lazy DSCC actually combined two attacks that were already shot down by fact checkers. It’s like a greatest hits of debunked ads from Reid’s super PAC and his friends at AFSCME.”

Politifact, August 15, 2016:

“the main claim of the ad, that Heck would ‘privatize’ Social Security and subsequently jeopardize the program’s fiscal stability, is one that PolitiFact and other Nevada journalists have called inaccurate on multiple occasions.”

“a similar ad in 2010 by journalists including Jon Ralston, who accused the union of ‘blatant fear mongering.‘”

“Heck has never suggested a mandatory privatization of the entitlement system that would forcibly ‘turn our savings over to Wall Street.’”

Politifact, July 12, 2016:

“The implication that funds raised from the banking industry were an ‘investment’ in Heck is highly misleading.”

“After 30 years of Harry Reid, Nevadans are ready for Joe Heck’s battle-tested, real-world experience with creating jobs, providing health care, defending our country, and improving education. Our opponent, Ms. Cortez Masto, who has spent more than two decades enriching herself through political patronage, only offers more of Reid’s poisonous partisanship.”
