Heck: Mr. President, it is insulting to suggest American heroes cannot think for themselves

Republican U.S. Senate candidate in Nevada Dr. Joe Heck today issued the following response to President Obama’s suggestion Thursday that Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) members were easily swayed by cable news and right-wing radio:

“Mr. President, my veteran brothers and sisters at VFW Post 36 have served bravely. We trusted these men and women to protect our nation, our people, and our freedom. It is insulting to suggest American heroes cannot think for themselves.

“Even in the last months of his administration, the President’s impulse is to divide our country and make gross generalizations about people who may not agree with him. I serve my state and my nation because I want to protect the freedoms for which our veterans fought and to ensure all Nevadans can live in peace and prosperity.”
