LAS VEGAS — With U.S. Senate candidate Catherine Cortez Masto’s mentor Harry Reid this week continuing to block the bipartisan National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), Dr. Joe Heck called on Reid to set aside his political maneuvers for the sake of our Armed Forces, military families, and veterans:
“After 30 years in office, Senator Reid seems more determined than ever to show Nevada that his partisanship knows no bounds. It appears he would rather preserve his ‘do-nothing Senate’ talking point as a partisan cudgel for press conferences than to actually do his own job, blocking the NDAA and putting his support of the disastrous Iran nuclear deal ahead of our brave service men and women.
“My opponent, Ms. Cortez Masto, who was handpicked by Senator Reid to succeed him, also supports the failing Iran deal. She likes to refer to herself as a ‘bipartisan problem solver.’ I don’t know how anyone can say with a straight face that a man who, for political reasons, is willing to block a bill supporting our troops would pick a ‘bipartisan problem solver’ to carry on his legacy.
“For the sake of our troops, military families and veterans, I call on Senator Reid to drop his senseless opposition to the defense authorization bill and give our military the fully-funded pay raise they deserve.”
