LAS VEGAS — Today, following the announcement of yet another inconsistent position on national security by Catherine Cortez Masto, the Dr. Joe Heck for U.S. Senate campaign released the following statement criticizing her for being “all over the map” on the safety of Nevadans and national security. Heck spokesperson Brian Baluta said:

“Cortez Masto’s statement on Guantanamo Bay is only the latest in a series of stumbles on national security.

“First she said we should be ‘opening ourselves up’ to the threat posed by the Syrian refugee crisis and then flip flopped following the Paris attacks.

“Cortez Masto came out in full support of the President’s crumbling nuclear deal with Iran and then doubled down on the bad policy when a PAC announced it was raising money for her on the issue.

“Now, on the heels of those disastrous positions, Cortez Masto has gotten the pass from her political benefactors Harry Reid and Barack Obama to actually oppose the President’s terrible plan to bring dangerous terrorists to American soil.

“Nevadans can’t afford to send another politician to the U.S. Senate for six years who makes security decisions based on political expediency. As we’ve seen with President Obama, the learning curve on national security and foreign policy is not forgiving. And with the largest state sponsor of terror, Iran, on the path to becoming a nuclear power thanks to Cortez Masto’s preferred policy, the stakes are even higher.”
