FBI reopens investigation into presidential candidate whom Cortez Masto has campaigned with repeatedly

Following the shocking announcement that the FBI has reopened its investigation of Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server, U.S. Senate candidate Joe Heck released the following statement:

“Hillary Clinton’s inherent dishonesty and perpetual violation of the public trust is at the heart of this case and my opponent Catherine Cortez Masto’s blind advocacy of her candidacy is entirely consistent with her career as Nevada’s most partisan attorney general,” said Heck. “Clinton is the biggest and latest name in a long list of law-breaking Democrats for whom Cortez Masto is willing to carry water. Both politicians have always put their partisan ambitions above the law and Nevadans are furious with the double standard. When will Catherine Cortez Masto stand up to Hillary Clinton’s reckless behavior?”

Cortez Masto’s time as Nevada attorney general was marred by different standards for those on her side of the aisle. She aggressively pursued charges against Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki, while letting Democrat Morse Arberry Jr. off the hook for embezzling $121,000 in campaign contributions and did the same for ACORN officials who committed voter fraud. She even went so far as to use taxpayer dollars to defend former director of the Agency for Nuclear Projects Robert Loux, who gave himself and his five staff members pay raises above those authorized by the Legislature.

In July, the Reno Gazette-Journal’s Seth Richardson asked Cortez Masto “Would you have used one (a private email server) at the federal level, like her (Clinton)?”

Cortez Masto refused to rule it out and said “I’m not going to speculate.”
