LAS VEGAS – The news keeps getting worse and worse for Catherine Cortez Masto’s “good law,” also known as the Affordable Care Act (ACA). First, the nation’s largest health insurer announced it will withdraw from all but a “handful” ACA exchanges. Then the Associated Press reported “Significant premium hikes expected under Obama health law.” Today, a federal judge ruled “Obamacare is being funded unconstitutionally.”

As is the case with her other vague policy positions, Harry Reid’s handpicked U.S. Senate candidate Cortez Masto doesn’t let overwhelming evidence get in the way of towing the party line.

“Today is a victory for the rule of law and a defeat for those who to think unconstitutional executive overreach is an acceptable alternative for actual problem solving,” said Republican U.S. Senate candidate Dr. Joe Heck. “The evidence continues to pile up that the approach advocated by Barack Obama, Harry Reid, and my opponent, Catherine Cortez Masto, has created more problems than it has solved. As an emergency room physician who cared for Nevadans in an inner-city hospital, regardless of coverage, I know there are better ways to reform our health care system and as Nevada’s next U.S. Senator I will fight to repeal and replace this disastrous health care law.”

Heck introduced and cosponsored legislation with the GOP Doctors Caucus to fully repeal the unsustainable ACA and start over with patient-centered solutions including the interstate purchase of insurance, individual health pools, expanded health savings accounts, tax credits for the purchase of coverage, and lawsuit abuse reforms to reduce the costly practice of defensive medicine.

“By defending the status quo and offering no solutions, my opponent puts Washington ahead of Nevadans and their doctors,” said Heck.
