Today, at Las Vegas’ famous Lee’s Korean BBQ, the Las Vegas Asian Chamber of Commerce (ACC) made its choice in Nevada’s crucial U.S. Senate race by officially endorsing Republican candidate Dr. Joe Heck. The announcement marks the first time the business group has endorsed in a race for federal elected office.

“The Las Vegas Asian Chamber of Commerce is proud to endorse Dr. Joe Heck for U.S. Senate because he has the honor, integrity and work ethic to best serve the Asian Pacific American (APA) community and all Nevadans as our next U.S. Senator. In Dr. Heck, the APA community has a real partner who, as a former small business owner, is committed to the growth of the local economy, as well as the national economy. In Dr. Heck, we have someone who does not take our support for granted, but engages with his constituents, really listens, and cares about the needs of the APA community, from our seniors, to our employers and employees, to our families who are concerned about the economy, improving education, and accessing quality and affordable health care. As a physician, a small business owner, and a brigadier general in the Army Reserve, we can think of no one more qualified for the job of U.S. Senator than our friend Joe Heck,” said ACC President Renato “Sonny” Vinuya.

“Since before statehood, Asian Pacific Americans have made tremendous contributions to the growth and vitality of Nevada and our country. The APA community in Nevada embodies the American dream. Our Bangladeshis, Bhutanese, Burmese, Cambodian, Chinese, Filipino, Hmong, Indian, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Lao, Malaysian, Nepalese, Pakistani, Pacific Islander, Singaporean, Sri Lankan, Thai and Vietnamese communities are part of Nevada’s past, present, and future. I am humbled and honored the receive the first-ever endorsement from the Las Vegas Asian Chamber of Commerce and I pledge to continue to be a friend and partner to the APA community in the U.S. Senate as we work together to build a stronger Nevada,” said Dr. Joe Heck.

Established in 1986, the Las Vegas Asian Chamber of Commerce was formed to serve and represent the professional interests of Nevada’s Asian Pacific Americans.
